I have always made most of my clothes using Burda-patterns, Suuri Käsityö, Novita and Moda were just too regular for me. I have bought lots and lots of Burda magazines from the public library when they were like 1 euro for 5 magazines – that’s just too cheap to pass up! For the kind of clothing I wanted to make, I have usually just made modifications to fancy wear patterns. When I was younger, sewing was the only option to get the kind of clothing I wanted. Since I only had Visa Electron, I couldn’t buy stuff from the Internet and IRL shops were non-existent. Well, at some point Morticia came to be and their webstore was something to look through. I also remember buying a pair of PVC pants from a Finnish shop Magic Frog (that still exists!) and I always loved to look through this German shop, X-tra-X’s site finding inspiration. There was also this local (from Kouvola) girl, Rorasah, who made gothic clothing. Ahh, to be young again! |
