Machine knitted hat, part 2
With this one I decided to make the same kind of start as when I'm knitting a sock. More on it is on this video (in Finnish). So I'm a little on the wild side and did not count anything. I did as many rows as seemed appropriate and the hat width I calculated using the earflaps: I determined that one flap was like half of my head, so I just doubled the needles in use (39+39). Then I put half of them on the position where they don't knit. The first row I knitted with size 10, then changed it to 8 and made an appropriate looking amount of rows. |

Then I switched the size back to 10 and took all needles to working position. Then made a comfortable looking amount of rows.

Next I folded the thing I had knitted in half, putting the starting stitches on every other needle. I might have messed up in the middle and put the stitches on needles next to each other, but discovered this so late in the game that I couldn't be bothered to switch 30 stitches one needle to the right. Or left. Don't remember. :) |

After that I just continued on knitting as I had done before, trying to make a wee bit fatter stripes. I made only three stripes on the hat part, purple-grey-purple. After that I just dropped the stitches from the needles as I had done with the earflaps. I do not recommend doing this. Next time I swear I'll have some contrasting yarn and will knit a few rows on that so it will be easier to sew the parts together! It was not fun. :D Well, who am I kidding? I always laugh when I do stupid things. |

After that it's all just sewing things together. I started with the back seam of the hat part, followed by the top seam of the hat part. It was no teasy! And also, it didn't look so nice. So I had to re-sew it with my sewing machine.. Ha. And after that I made the pockets and sewed the earflaps onto the hat. Oh, and obviously had to clean up SO many threads. Well, now they're nice and tidy. :) After the first pocket I sew the rest of the hat with the machine. Ain't nobody got time to hand sew! ;D |

Well alright, let me see what YOU'VE got! ;) Good luck to anyone trying to knit with a machine. Ugh!
