In the woods

Posted by Laura 23/01/2017 0 Comment(s) Mental health,

I have been thinking about my past happy places, and have figured out that I spend far too little time in the woods now that I've grown up. As a child I would walk around in the woods for hours on end, but now I seem to prefer walking on paved streets and in crowded places. Since I live in Kotka and the crowded places are few and far apart, I have decided to go more out in the wilderness to seek some mental health. Today I went boldly where I had never gone before (walked on new tracks) and took my trusty Canon with me. I found some magical looking places and my voice. I read somewhere that singing at least 20 minutes per day will make you feel better. Similarly like petting a dog etc. Since I had listened to Karo Hämäläinen - Yksin -audiobook at the gym, I decided no more books were needed and I would be OK with listening to music while I walked. So I put Juice on Spotify and started walking and taking pictures and video. I didn't get very good footage, since I went out on a cloudy day and the sun was about to set, but singing along with one of my favorite albums from childhood (Kuopio-Iisalmi-Nivala) and taking pictures made me feel better.
